That's pretty much how it works. Once it happens to you, you understand pretty quick. Even better, other people can influence and even counteract your emotions. It took a lot of time getting used to it, but it's kind of handy. Even if takes emotional drama to a whole new level.

I think the reward in learning, though, is the benefit of not having your emotions go haywire on the place. Even if things broken by emotions tend to fix themselves, still not exactly convenient.

Well, at least there is someone that can help prevent emotions going haywire.

... It sounds as if it's best to get in touch with your own emotions. I mean, seeing that you can learn to control, you would need to be able to do so.

[ Presa hums in thought. There is quite a few other questions, but some of them she feels as if they would be best left alone. She'll come up with something easy, nothing important but a question that will allow her to spend some more time with him.

She won't admit it out loud, but she is enjoying her time around Alvin. ]

Well ... why don't you tell me more about what you have here? I'm quite interested in who you're working with and how everything is running.

[He's really wondering what's on her mind, but... ...No, he really can't ask. Were it anyone else, he'd probably try to worm it out of them, but with her—just feels a little too soon for him. For them, maybe. He'll keep an eye out, but for now he has this question to handle.

You mean the restaurant? [A drum of his fingers as he wonders where to start.] Well I'm not sure if you met her yet, but the co-owner and head chef is Milla—fractured Milla. [...It never sets well with him that he has to make that distinction like that, and it shows in the way he had to clarify.] It was actually after having some of her food that I got the idea and offered her to try a joint ownership. [Although he a somewhat ulterior motive. He had felt it would help her something to do and find some purpose here. Something different to help her continue to differentiate herself from prime Milla.] Another one of my friends, Ludger, helps her out.

This place is staffed by other Otherworlders, and we try to make meals based off recipes from other worlds. Gives an exotic taste for the locals and a little taste of home for us. [Kind of like a cultural exchange.

And although she did kind of direct the question at him, as usual he's cleverly spoken while not putting himself in the focus.]

[ One day he can ask and she might respond, but for now Presa is likely to keep it to herself. Just like a lot of stuff to be honest.

She is interested in him and he's well being so she'll naturally ask. Not to mention it will serve as a good distraction. ]

M'hm. ... I've come across her, Milla too. She was rather odd and very different from the Milla I know. [ But there is something about this Milla that makes her like her more than the Prime. It might be because they don't have that rough history. (Or that they're sort of alike, even if she isn't aware of it yet.) ]

That isn't a bad idea, having recipes from other worlds. It would help a lot with those that are homesick.

[ Baby steps. She isn't going to push him into that type of situation unless he wants to be in it. ]

[If there's one thing these two have in common, it's their ability to hide secrets. Alvin may be more honest these days, but he's no open book. The reader has to actually flip and search the pages for things to be revealed.]

Heh, yeah, Milla has her own attitude about things. It's like seeing twins. [And a lighter, more curious glance at her.] Any particular meal you'd like to see?

[Although memories of some of her favorite foods are already coming to mind. Not all, and some would require some more reminding, but at least generally. Just things he normally wouldn't think about, but her presence naturally serves as a trigger.]

It can be quite confusing when it comes to those two. [ It takes her a moment to answer because food had been the last thing on her mind. ]

Just make it at home, then. I could even recommend some grocers we work with if you want some deals.

Because of the flow of conversation, he actually almost asks where she's living now. But he manages to stop himself.]

[ He can always get her the best deals and Presa will happily accept them. ]

Well considering you started off asking about the emotions, I figured you had more about this place.

Unless the questions about the restaurant are a not so subtle hint that you're also suddenly interested in my life as well.

[The words just flow smooth as butter and he doesn't bat an eye on the latter. Although he expected more of the former, he also prepared himself for any personal question she might dish out at him. He just also wasn't sure if she would actually be interested. So he took the leap and placed the bold question out there, seeing how she takes it.]

I wouldn't want to bore you with all my questions about here, but if you're willing to keep on answering them then there are a few.

[ A tiny smile slipped onto her lips. She would be a liar if she said she didn't interested in Alvin and his life. It is hard not to seeing how much has changed along with himself. ]

[Playing the "coy" card, huh? He just gives a casual shrug.]

[On the surface, it sounds like he means an understanding about this place. But it could also be directed about himself.

Plus, he really doesn't mind. It's true had been uncertain as to how they would be together like this, but... It's not bad. A little weird, still, sure, but it helps that he's more or less has his act together now and knows where he stands. So long as Presa seems to be okay with it, he can start easing up as well.]

[ Naturally.

Her face does fall a little and the room might become a little chilly. In all honesty, Presa feels conflicted when it comes to him and not in the sense of should she get along with him or not. It's actually a lot deeper than that.

Mentally shaking her head, the room returns to it's normal temperature and Presa sits back. ]

Good. At least this gives you an excuse to avoid work and saves me from trying to find other people to question.

[He notices the temperature change, and once again he's firing a somewhat questioning look. Again he wonders if he should ask, especially if her emotions are starting to become more obvious. And again, he holds it. But she's probably more aware that he's noticed now.]

I'm not avoiding it... Just putting my attention on something more important.

[—Now that's quite the statement. Or maybe he's just being his smooth operating self.]

[ Tip toeing around the personal questions. It's hard when neither of them know if they should ask or not. Just a little frustrating on her end because she knows that there is nothing wrong with questions, but she's being stubborn.

Alvin's response caught her off guard and her cheeks might be turning a little pink. She'll just avoid eye contact and look away now. ]

You better make sure nobody hears you say that. You could get into trouble.

I think the only one I'd get in trouble with would be you.

[There's a light smirk, a sign that he's teasing her. But here's the real question: is he actually trying to flirt here or is he just being his usual self? Is it just harmless banter or is there something deeper going on here?

And to be honest? No one knows, not even himself. At the very least he's not trying to insinuate anything. If anything, thoughts of any chance of them getting back together are so down the rabbit hole, the entrance is currently sealed. Maybe further along he might try and take a peek, but maybe it's too soon. At least...in his view (if he thought about it) it would be.

But there is one thing he does know. He's glad that they can talk like this. There's still a lot of things he regrets when it comes to her, a lot that he hasn't quite made clear yet. The approaching Night of Selenium might change that. But for now, he just...wants to try and amend things, even a little. While he has this chance.

Because who knows how long this will last and it's a pretty fair certainty he won't have another.]
