Alvin will have acquired his own little carrier pigeon to send messages, so he'll have one stationed at the main carrier pigeon place that will come and find him.
In the meanwhile, this is the entry for any private messages that are delivered via the carrier pigeon system.

When I talked to the rep Selestiya (have you seen her? she's a talking ponyta!) she said that the apathy drug was the biggest subject with everyone. They're trying to find a way that it can be used without hurting the person that takes it. What did people say about it and the Arehtei? How about Gwendolyn? She seemed like the kind of person who has a lot to say when I met her.
[ ... should he really leave that in? whatever. ]
Anyway what happened with the idea about the reps? Did anyone say they wanted to do it? We can give the idea of the pamphlet to them too. We need to ask the arehtei as well.

(Pokémon? I don't know, I don't do nicknames and he isn't mine, I hired him for the day. He likes apples by the way)

But who is "Selestiya" and a ponyta—oh wait, does he mean Celestia the flying pony horse thing? Okay, now he gets it.]
Let's see. When I said there were heated discussions, I really mean it. The biggest concern is as you mentioned—not wanting someone to be detrimentally affected by having their emotions swayed like that. There were also some implications that apathy may not be so harmless as an emotion and could actually be dangerous. However, it also sounded like that only applied to us. The locals don't seem to find apathy that dangerous. Then again, with our emotions seemingly stronger, I wouldn't be so surprised if that kind of difference is true.
There was also talk of creating some kind of barrier to help protect the city from any future attacks from the remaining Arehtei, as well as other methods to try diffuse the influence that the Arehtei can bring. [He almost references Sosyne, but then stops himself. Instead he just switches the flow slightly.] I can see their point, but there were arguments that doing that won't really solve any of the core problems with the Arehtei. Gwendolyn was really defensive over the Arehtei, that's for sure.
That led to discussions about needing more information and the Arehtei needing to stop hiding what they know. We got some more bits and pieces from what people heard, like the war and the Arehtei being asleep. Similar things that you found out. One guy actually learned that the Arehtei may not be immortal, and that Piphron may be the oldest one around for this generation of Arehtei. We have no idea what would happen if one died or what happens for a new one to be born. In any case, it sounded pretty ominous.
As for the reps, there's actually a lot of support for it. I might have a couple down, but no real confirmation yet. I'm willing to put myself for Piphron whenever it happens, too. The only thing is I don't have the time to organize the whole thing, so going to have find someone else to take the reins.

(Wait, are you talking this bird?)
14/12; messenger bird
moderate-sized, strong wings, Alvin??) Long enough that Red takes some time to respond himself, first to digest all the information, then what to even write. He's always had the ease of dealing with problems by going up to them and fight them, but this really isn't that simple... should he really be opening his mouth about this?Alright. Let's try and write this. A little carefully, though it doesn't come out in the handwriting, really. ]
I'll see if I can talk to Elios and Peromei about the idea and send a letter to the other worlder rep about it too for some support. It was talking to her about helping everyone that made me think about this, and she's smart too.
Would a barrier be a bad idea for an emergency? It's not going to make an arehtei leave if all they want to do is destroy us but it might give people some time. But the city is big and you're going to need a big barrier and people who know what they're doing. I don't know how we're going to diffuse any influence coming from the arehtei. Doesn't our emotions connect us?
Have any of the arehtei hid anything before Thras and his city? I get why people are mad. I get why she would defend them too. Elios said Sosyne was sick when she came and attacked and a lot of the arehtei have been that way for a long time. But all the people in the city have had to suffer from that too, people who didn't even know about the arehtei until last year. Not everyone can help the arehtei directly but maybe they can find a different way to help people.
You can't protect or help anyone unless you know you have the strength to do it. People need help dealing with what happens.

What's wrong with including the bird's nickname? He has one even if you don't think it's cool
Did you think I was talking about one of my pokémon? The only flying type I have with me is Charizard

I think the general IDEA isn't that bad, but you're getting to the point of it. Would it cause conflict, how would it work, how would it affect emotions and all that. Mostly people don't want it taken as some kind of attack or something against the Arehtei and create unnecessary conflict. Even I got lost in the back and forth that spawned from it.
As for the Arehtei hiding things—probably. Wouldn't surprise me, anyway. To be fair, until recently the Arehtei probably still thought of us as threats and enemies. Even Peromei wanted more proof that she could completely trust us. After all, the humans of the past did end up sending this world down this doomsday path. Though I do think there's still more to this than any of have let on.
I think once people realize that working with the Arehtei is the best shot in saving this planet then things will go better.
Hopefully.

Well you called it a "flying animal." Made it sound like you were talking about something else.

[ Also, the idea of meeting with professionals is, admittedly, a little scary, and he had to wonder how Alvin took to this idea enough to suggest going that far, even if it wasn't at all different from what he already wanted to do. (what did he think he was doing, again? this is too weird and responsible-) ]
When you mentioned a conflict, was that to do with trying to stop the arehtei's influence coming through? unless the barrier was meant to be related to that too. I just thought they want something in case an arehtei comes over the city again [ ...though, writing that- ] but they're going to have to deal with that too if every arehtei is like Sosyne when they attack.
By the way, were you here when Peromei and Elios came to the city? If you were can you tell me what happened? I know there was something about a maze with Peromei but I don't know if they both attacked the city the same way Sosyne did.
I don't know what I think about them hiding things though. maybe the other arehtei are but Elios told me a lot when I asked him questions. would he be hiding anything important after he fought Sosyne to protect us? he didn't do that just to help Sosyne. what can they be hiding anyway?
-- Red
what would you call him? If he was a pokémon I'd call him a flying pokémon but everyone here says animal or monster

You're asking a lot out of me and making your bird work, you know that, right? I only have time to answer your first two questions. I'll send another bird out with the rest. By the way, that's what we call them—birds.
The "Doc" is Dr. Naomi Kimishima. You need to know your officials, brat. [If this were the GHS he would totally have used the :P emote.] Also, I think her name is spelled "Celestia"—"Princess Celestia" to be more exact. Am I going to have give you lessons on how to handle officials? [The tone is a bit lecturing, but Alvin is actually really amused.] In any case, sending a letter or just trying to call them with the amulet is probably fine. The Princess is probably a better choice if you're familiar with her, though.
[Okay, second page because this is. Kind of a lot even if it's summarized.]
It's a bit of both. Some want it as a kind of barrier, which is generally fine. But some where afraid it might look like people are seeing the Arehtei as threats and enemies. There was also talk about how to not have emotions influence one another. You know, like from us to the Arehtei and vice versa. So there was also talk of ways to use apathy or some kind of tech to somehow separate that connection. Dunno if that would actually work, mostly because it seems to go against the "rules of nature" of this world. And trust me—you don't want to mess with that unless you really know what you're getting into. [Small reference to what he had told Red about his world's situation with spirits and mana.]
It's true we still have a problem if any of the Arehtei turn hostile on us, so I think some kind of defense measures need to be in place. I think the problem is some folks are thinking of more permanent fixtures instead of just temporary. So the idea is fine, just the actual implementation is what was debated.

[In the mid-morning, Red is going to have a brown bird fly to him, wherever he is. It's a little larger than Graytail, almost hawkish in its features. With dark brown feathers and a tanned fantail, the bird stares at Red as it bristles its feather and shows its back. Strapped onto it is what looks like some kind of backpack, bulging slightly from the contents.]
All right here's the rest of what you wanted to know. By the way, this is Ophelia since you're into the whole name sharing thing.
Elios was the first one to show up, and he attacked the city similarly to Sosyne. There were all kinds of avian monsters, a lot of which actually kidnapped some people and took them to Elios himself. [The...ink on the paper may seem thicker and somehow sharper than before. Even the paper seems to be just a little darker, as if lightly singed by the tip of a candle lit flame.
This would be because while writing, Alvin remembered how Elize was taken from him, and although it's in the past and behind them, it still brought up unwanted emotions of anger and regret at his failure.
But then the writing returned to normal.]
A combination of dealing with the creatures and those taken speaking to Elios calmed him down enough to make him stop. It turned out all he was really looking for was love, and seeing the error of his ways, he fixed everything and then left. He eventually came back for the Zephyras Festival in the spring and got a massive dose of love. Given how that festival is a total matchmaking fling, not surprised.
[Second page.]
Peromei, however... We had a warning of her arrival from those who were aligned to her, and they had a good idea that she was not doing well. Rituals were done to try and send more hope to her, but as you probably heard, Miss Enoshima did a number on her in terms of sending constant despair. This was also before we really realized how much our emotions affected the Arehtei. If we had, it might not have turned out that way.
In any case, the rituals were set outside of the city. It was actually a strategy to try and lure her there so we didn't have a repeat of Elios. It worked, and that's where she created a maze. I personally wasn't in there, but I heard some about it. I think there were challenges or trials dealing with hope and despair, and they could all eventually meet her. At the end of it, she released everyone and left, but not before saying that we still needed to earn her trust.
[Third page!]
Oh, you know, something I just remembered. Sosyne has appeared before.

[Yep. That's it. THAT'S HOW HE ENDS THAT LETTER.
Also Ophelia is now looking at Red expectantly, as if waiting for a treat or something. Or a letter to send back. Or to be dismissed to return home. But she's staring at him.]

--and who the heck does this guy think he is calling him a brat!?!
As much as he likes the idea of sending one more letter just to give his own jab back, Red decides not to mostly for Greytail's sake (true, that was a bit of a back and forth they had), and because he totally has more manners than that.
(but nearly. nearly!!)
The next day, Ophelia gets a choice of what to peck at from the trail mix Red carries around with him as a snack, though the circumstances they meet aren't the best. Regardless, the bird comes back promptly to Alvin with a single letter -- and that letter is Alvin's third one, a ring around the part about Sosyne and a question mark beside it.
That's it. That's all you're getting back. ]

We think we saw her shadow over Inoman, her scales mysteriously appeared after Elios, and we saw her shadow again sometime later. Can't remember when, though.

Hi. I'm in the library right now, and I'm gonna try and sort through everything you told me. Thanks for doing that, by the way.
